So, I have just been watching the new Harry Potter movie. We went to the cinema at the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the one with the original versions and the annoying ice-cream intermission. But since we had to be at the cinema half an hour before the ~~movie~~commercials started to pick up the reserved tickets (necessary, the cinema was full) and no intention to already go in that early, we sat down at the Australian bar in the Sony Center for a beer. As they are everything but fast in serving there, we ended up having to rush a bit to not be too late for the ~~movie~~commercials, especially as we wanted to pick up some stuff from the bar.

The Rockies

Yesterday I watched an interesting – in terms of nice landscape images – documentary about the Rocky Mountains. Actually it was only the first part of it, there are two more to come. The second part is supposed to air tonight, but I was wondering about the third part. Not too problematic to find out, one would think. Especially as at the end of the documentary there was a URL given: www.dierockies.de. Not that I have any clue why on earth a seperate domain is needed for it, but anyhow, at least I should be able to find the times when the different parts are going to be aired, right?

Casino Royale

I thought I would not manage to see the new Bond in the cinema, missed it in the first week and then I wasn't motivated enough to go alone, but it worked out tonight. Two colleagues and me went to the Cinestar at the Potsdamer Platz to see the original version. Not exactly cheap with 6.50â‚¬ – they have an interesting pricing policy: the seats in the rearward half cost extra – but okay. The other 6somethingâ‚¬ for a coke and some candy on the other hand... Anyhow. After 45 minutes of commercials (new record for me) and a ice-cream vending intermission after the commercials (that really ought to die out) the trailers started.

Apparently Spiderman3 is going to appear soon, maybe I should finally get around to see part 2. Otherwise nothing too interesting was trailered. So after close to an hour after the written time on the ticket the movie started.

Wahn, Wahn, Ã¼berall Wahn

Irgendwie bin ich immer noch ziemlich erschlagen von meinem Kinoausflug letzten Sonntag: Gezeigt wurde eine Aufnahme der 'Meistersinger' von 1984 in Bayreuth, also mit der kurzen Pause von einer Viertelstunde gute fÃ¼nf Stunden Kino. Nun habe ich ja eigentlich ein Faible fÃ¼r Wagner-Opern (im Juli kommt im Kino der Ring, nur bin ich gerade dann wohl nicht da, hmpf), aber irgendwie bin ich mit den Meistersingern nicht richtig warm geworden; und das liegt nicht an der Inszenierung (Wolfgang Wagner zeichnet sich dafÃ¼r verantwortlich), die durchaus gelungen ist. Sehr beeindruckend ist das BÃ¼hnenbild, keine modernistische Fassung mit abstrahierter Kulisse, sondern so richtig ordentlich 'der groÃŸen Bayreuther Tradition' verpflichtet.

Frau Schneeblut

Freitag oder Samstag. 23 Uhr. Zeit fÃ¼r 'The return of the Classic Late Show'. Diesmal bin ich erst am Samstag ins Kino, aber diesen Film wollte ich wirklich sehen und ich habe mich auch schon, seit ich das Programm fÃ¼r die Late Show kenne, darauf gefreut. Leider war sonst keiner so direkt dafÃ¼r zu begeistern (okay, ich habe auch nicht so viel Werbung dafÃ¼r gemacht), also bin ich alleine hin. Es lief Lady Snowblood.

Nun sagte mir das erstmal garnichts, aber die Beschreibung las sich hÃ¶chst interessant:

Geschrieben von Kazuo UEMURA und Kazuo KOIKE in Anlehnung an ein japanisches Manga gilt LADY SNOWBLOOD mittlerweile als wichtigster Einfluss fÃ¼r Quentin Trantinos KILL BILL. Im Gegensatz zu diesem handelt es sich hierbei allerdings um ein todernstes Rachedrama, das in edler Optik und raffinierten RÃ¼ckblenden den Leidensweg einer von Hass getriebenen Frau erzÃ¤hlt.

PopulÃ¤rmusik

Wo ich schon beim schwedischen Film bin: Bereits vor ein paar Wochen habe ich mir 'PopulÃ¤rmusik aus Vittula' angeschaut. In groben ZÃ¼gen geht es um das Aufwachsen in einem abgelegen Gebiet Schwedens (eigentlich eher zufÃ¤llig Schweden, Finnland kÃ¶nnte es auch sein) in den 60er. Und den EinfluÃŸ den das Auftauchen einer Beatles-Platte hat. Protagonisten sind Matti und sein Freund Niila (eine Rockband will gegrÃ¼ndet werden). Der Film basiert (wie ich die Tage erfahren habe) auf einem Buch von Mikael Niemi mit dem gleichen Titel (Amazonlink), das recht gut sein soll. Ich habe es mir mal auf der 'zu lesen'-Liste vermerkt.

Der Film hat einen wesentlich hÃ¶heren SkurrilitÃ¤tsfaktor als 'ZurÃ¼ck nach Dalarna', ist hochgradig unterhaltsam, hat das mit Abstand coolste Radrennen seit der Tour de France 97 und wer ihn noch nicht gesehen hat, sollte das schleunigst nachholen. Wertung: 8.5/10.

Poster

Ich komme gerade von dem Kino um die Ecke zurÃ¼ck. Angeschaut wurde 'ZurÃ¼ck nach Dalarna' von Maria Blom. Letztes Jahr wurde der Film mit drei Guldbagge (in den Kategorien BÃ¤sta film, BÃ¤sta kvinnliga biroll und BÃ¤sta manuskript) ausgezeichnet, hat also durchaus einige VorschuÃŸlorbeeren zu verteidigen. Und der Film macht wirklich SpaÃŸ! Hervorragend gespielt, witzige Dialoge, nachdenkliche Wendungen. Kurz zur Handlung: Mia (Sofia Helin, fÃ¼r BÃ¤sta kvinnliga huvudroll nominiert) reist von ihrem Wohn- und Arbeitsort Stockholm in Heimat Dalarna, um fÃ¼r ihre neue Wohnung eine Lampe zu holen; und um nebenbei noch zum 70. Geburtstag des Vaters vorbeizuschauen. Aber kleine Orte haben den Nebeneffekt, daÃŸ jeder jeden kennt und man sich viel erzÃ¤hlt. Und so ist es fÃ¼r Mia nicht nur ein kurzer Aufenthalt in der Heimat, sondern ein etwas lÃ¤ngerer Ausflug, schlieÃŸlich gibt es da noch das Fest mit (ganz wichtig) der Torte.
