Looking into the crystal ball I see a lot of smeared fuzzy mess sprinkled with white noise: The cold part of the year is coming up! No matter how nice and golden the late summer and early autumn is going to be, ultimately it will snow, storm, rain, hail, and not necessarily in that order. Allright, I didn't actually look in a crystal ball, I looked in bottom left corner of the shelf. Right were the reserves and antidotes for the gloomy, cold and – not necessarily – lonely evenings are stored.
Summer is miles and miles away
And no one would ask me to stay
And I should contemplate this change
To ease the pain
And I should step out of the rain
And walk away
— Opeth: In my time of need
Not good. I am not prepared. Voidness is spreading, the dust is settling on nearly finished bottles. Short: I am running out of Whisky! Fast! Three opened bottles, where one is basically empty, won't hold for long. That can't be. Hence on Thursday I entrusted electric fields with the task to deliver my order to
Scoma. They worked fast, so this morning a nice big package arrived, filled with delightful, bottled liquids, enshrined in well-crafted tin or (not so impressive) cardboard boxes.

I am particularly looking forward to try the
Strathisla, which I do know by name but I cannot remember that I actually tasted it. So this one is for broadening the knowledge. Also it is an 18yr old one, which by itself does not necessarily mean a lot, but I do like that it is neither chillfiltered nor coloured up.

Also I am very anxious to drink again the
Bruichladdich; here in the WMDII –Whisky of Mass Destinction– edition. In the small brochure that accompanied the bottle there is this amazing quote from Michael Jackson:
"Too expensive to pour on my porridge? I'll economise. I'll skip the porridge." Though he was referring to the 20yr old one, not the one I have now.

And finally there is the
Isle of Jura which was just a very good offer I couldn't walk by. Plus I cannot remember the honey and marzipan aroma that is attributed to it. I was playing with the thought of also adding a
Highland Park to the order, but well, I still have some left and even though that is a whisky which always fits well, I wanted to try to introduce more variety into my storage. For this there is also a miniature bottle of
Arran (10yr old), just to see how it is evolving. Because I ordered enough (and my flatmate also joined in) they gave us another miniature for free, which is a
Glenmorangie, okay, wouldn't have bought it, so it's a good way to get it.
I am prepared now. Hence: The gloomy season can come forth. And it can even be an extended one.
