The used blog software (
Serendipity) has a pretty feature that allows one to write multilingual entires. After some complaints :-) arrived that I should write in english, I wanted to try again if that actually works, this multilinguality. Problem sofar: As soon as there are multilingual entries, the browser, depending on its language setting, only showed an error message of the s9y system. I never cared about that too much and therefore never investigated closer, but now some testing could be done.
Okay, I did some testing on that and guess what: I does not work as I would expect it to work. Who would have guessed that... Now, my impression of the system was that I write an entry in the default blog language (which funnily changes if I change the browser language) and can then choose another language and write a translated version of the entry. Not that I would do that for every single one, but sometimes it might actually be nice to do that. Plus at least every entry knows in which language it is written, I'd like that. But apparently it does require a bit more work than just 'doing it'. Maybe I should find some documentation to read.
Well, until that is figured out, I'll revert to just write some thing in German and other things in English. The categories will keep their German names though (another thing that I would expect to be able to modify in a true multilingual environment). Hope that helps.
