Well yeah, easy task: Find a route from Chicago to New York. So first asking Google reveals Map24 as a possible tool to do that — could have thought of that, but isn't it so much more convenient to hack something into Google before starting to think? Anyway, talking about a Stupid User Detection here.

Wie angekündigt kurz nach Nummer 12 gleich die dreizehnte Ausbeute. Auch wieder mal ein wenig länger, da Aufarbeitung von liegengebliebenden Sachen. Ich sollte mir angewöhnen wenigstens jeden zweiten Tag bei CGTalk vorbeizuschauen und die guten Bilder zu vermerken, dann ist das auch einfacher öfter kürzere Ausbeuten zu fabrizieren...

Ja, ist schon wieder eine ganze Weile her, die letzte Ausbeute. Natürlich hat sich wieder ein ganzer Haufen angesammelt. Soviel, daß ich gleich zwei Ausbeuten vorbereitet habe. Diese hier kommt schon jetzt, die zweite erst am Sonntag.

Now, that's a funny idea. Take a standard 20' container and fill it up with 19" racks. Plug in your choice of servers and get a portable datacenter or supercomputer. And it looks cool, too. Sweet. Can I have one?

Der Comic ist schon etwas älter, ich habe bisher aber noch nicht dran gedacht, mal nachzusehen, ob es ihn im Netz gibt. Aber es gibt ihn. Soviel dann zum Thema Überwachung. Besser kann man es eigentlich nicht auf den Punkt bringen.

As was announced yesterday by the Deutsche Bahn (DB), the prices for the rail travel will rise by 2.9% (long distance). Combined with the increase from 16% to 19% of the VAT that was decided by the government the prices will rise on average by 5.6%. Of course the criticism followed immediately. The increase by the VAT is something that requires a different discussion, there are claims that only the reduced VAT – as is already the case for local travel – should be applied to long distance travels. I did not do a survey for the arguments for or against that idea. But anyhow, an increased ticket price due to the increased VAT is something the DB cannot be blamed for.

Because I got too dizzy with reading this long function on the screen, I dumped it to a postscript file for printing. Of course with a2ps and all whistles and bells: --pretty-print and -g. I never realised – and this time finally after around 17 pages – what a2ps does to != and == in comparisons:
